As the threat of bombs near, families are leaving everything they’ve know. Since February 2022, 6.8 million people have sought safety outside Ukraine and 3.6 million people have been internally displaced.

But as the harsh realities of war persist, your support gives families fleeing violence a lifeline.

    Thousands of people fleeing for safety have passed through the Palenca border crossing into Moldova. Thanks to your support, families are welcomed with nourishing hot food.

    We've provided over 18,000 meals for Ukrainian refugees arriving at Palenca. And these meals are more than just food. They're small but vital bites of hope.

    Liliya fled her home with her children after giving birth to her daughter, Bidash, in a hospital at risk of air strikes.

    She's now living in a Refugee Accommodation Centre, receiving guidance on breastfeeding and nutrition thanks to Action Against Hunger. You can help us reach more women with the resources they need to nurture their children and move forward.

    Dignity centres

    At our dignity centre in Chisinau, Moldova, Ruslana and her son Vova are choosing essential items for free. The centre supports 4,000 refugees monthly, and is one of many in Moldova.

Tatiana's story: Courage in the face of conflict

When rockets bombarded Kyiv, Tatiana faced an impossible decision.

"It was very scary. We lived in the basement for four days. We had no other choice but to flee."

Tatiana, now settled in Balti, Moldova, is one of 8 million people who've fled Ukraine since war began. After volunteering for Action Against Hunger, she now lives in the same building as our distribution centre. Tatiana plays a vital role at the centre, welcoming fellow Ukrainian refugees with hot meals and essential hygiene supplies.

"It is only natural to me to help. I used to volunteer in Ukraine too to support vulnerable communities.”

As snow settles on the ground, Tatiana sees more people walking through the centre's doors. With conflict in Ukraine still spiralling, more than 1.8 million people are in need of food aid this winter. You can help us reach them.
